Employment History:
August 1987 to April 2006, Luckett & Farley Architects and Engineers
Position: Senior Structural Engineer, Senior Project Manager
Over the past 18+ years with Luckett & Farley I gained valuable
experience as a Structural Engineer and Project Manager. As a
practicing Structural Engineer/Project Manager I have lead projects
in excess of 20 million dollars in construction value. As a Project
Manager I have gained knowledge in all aspects of design and
construction from foundations to HVAC systems to finishes. Projects
range from commercial to heavy industrial with construction types
including, steel frame, concrete, masonry and wood structures.
September 2004 to April 2006, ICON Home Inspections and
Professional Services Position: Owner, Inspector Using the vast
experience gained as a Structural Engineer and Project Manager, I
provided our clients with an inherently higher level of service with
a high degree of integrity. Services included: Home inspections,
structural integrity assessments, HUD/FHA modular home foundations
inspections/evaluations, residential construction observation.
April 2006 to Present, ICON Engineering and Inspections
Services, PLLC Position: Owner, President
Our goal is to
provide commercial and residential structural engineering services
in the local area in addition to commercial and residential real
estate transaction inspections.

Project and Related Experience:
Over the past 19 years I have had the opportunity
to provide Structural Engineering services on many different project
types. The following is a short summary of some of the projects for
which I had direct responsibility for design and construction
administration services:
1. Southeast Christian Church, Louisville, KY — 770,000 sf, $80
million dollar church facility in Louisville, KY. The structure
consisted of a 262 ft radial tension/compression ring roof system
with 50’ cantilevered balconies and seating for 10,000 people. I
served as the lead structural engineer and project manager for this
project.
2. Ford Louisville Assembly Plant Phosphate/E-coat Addition,
Louisville, KY — This project included a 104,000 sf, $20 million
dollar expansion to the existing facility. The structure consisted
of a heavy-duty steel structure bearing on caissons. Approximately
60,000 sf of this building was built on top of the existing plant
requiring extensive structural modifications. The balance of the
facility expansion consisted of and elevated structure which house
the Phosphate/E-coat process. I served as the lead structural
engineer.
3. University of Louisville, Papa John’s Cardinal
Stadium, Louisville, KY — Structural engineering services for a $60
million, 45,000 seat stadium, including facilities building and
concourses.
4. University of Louisville Brown Cancer Center Expansion Study,
Louisville, KY — The scope of this project was to study the
feasibility of adding 5 floors to the existing 5
story reinforced concrete building. The building was design and
constructed, in the early 70’s, using concrete frame and concrete
pan joist construction. Frame analysis/seismic analyses were
performed on various options that included using a steel structure
to minimize the seismic impact on the existing building. The study
found that the cost and complication of upgrading this building, to
meet the new seismic requirements of the JEC 2000, made it
impractical to construct. I served as the lead structural engineer
for this study.
5. Churchill Downs, Louisville, KY — This project
consisted of a $130 million dollar 484,800 sf
renovation/replacement of this historic facility. My
responsibilities on this project included seismic analysis and
design of a 6-story replacement facility as part of our structural
engineering team.
6. GM Parma Progressive Press Installations, Parma, Ohio — This
project included facility modifications including 20’ deep press
pits and foundations for 8 new metal stamping presses. The design
included 2000 psf Live Load elevated steel/concrete slab design for
die/coil storage. The project also included a structural analysis of
the existing facility for upgrading 30 ton crane to 50 ton including
design of reinforcements to the existing building. I served as the
lead structural engineer and project manager for this project.
7. Ford Stamping Plant Phase I & II — This project consisted of a
new 230,000+ sf stamping plant facility design and built in 2
phases. Building included a 60’ clear steel truss/column moment
frames that carried cantilevered reactions from 50 ton crane
girders. The elevated slab and surrounding floor slabs were design
for a 2000 psf Live Load for die/coil storage.
As noted above this is only a sample of the multitude of projects
which I had the pleasure of engineering, supervising and managing
over the past 19 years. On all projects I provided engineering as
well as construction administration/filed coordination services. I
have structural engineering experience in many types of construction
including: reinforced masonry, wood, structural steel, concrete,
post tension concrete and light gage metal.
Additional responsibilities include training/mentoring graduate
engineers (EIT), developing initial design concepts, client
relations and structural integrity assessments. |
